Another important factor that has contributed to the political stability of the United Arab Emirates since its official inception is the carefully planned and successfully implemented foreign policy by its heads of state and government, which aims above all to promote reconciliation and defuse confrontation and conflict. The cornerstone of UAE foreign policy is the protection of the country`s sovereignty and the independence of its citizens within the broader framework of Gulf security. Another important element of this policy has been the gradual broadening of the country`s political horizon, the strengthening of relations with international powers and cooperation with international organizations. Thus, shortly after their birth, the VaE joined the Arab League and the United Nations as a state in its own right. He was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (ICO) in the 1970s. The creation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which brings together the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia at a summit in Abu Dhabi in 1981, and the promotion of relations with other Arab countries, reflect the UAE`s determination to strengthen solidarity with the rest of the Arab world. The role of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, must be underlined in this context, as his stature has increased on the international scene in tandem with the country`s status on the world stage. Over the years, he has established himself as a mentor and mediator for young statesmen not only within the GCC, but also within the Arab world and for many developing countries. It is also largely explained by his humanitarian approach, which stems from his strong faith in Islam, according to which a large number of poor countries and communities around the world have benefited from the financial and material assistance that the ruler of Abu Dhabi has provided on behalf of the United Arab Emirates. In addition, the UAE military organization is the only non-NATO force to assist in peacekeeping in Kosovo. It is therefore not surprising that the spectacular generosity of this small country has attracted the world`s attention by helping to alleviate the misery of victims of natural or human disasters in Switzerland and abroad. All the UAE, especially Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, attract international attention by offering numerous economic opportunities, sports and recreational facilities, cultural activities, as well as environmental and wildlife protection awareness and tourism promotion.
